Then as they pass, there is an increased number of the particles filtered. Blueair offers a SmokeStop filter which is essentially a filter packed with plenty of activated carbon. This addition allows the unit to neutralize some of the gaseous contaminants in the air that could be contributing to offensive odors. I personally feel that Blueair does a good job here. These are not like the chincy carbon filters you see in many HEPA air purifiers. They have quite a bit of carbon inside, about 3 lbs., to really aid in collecting things that the HEPA filter won't get. Where many manufacturers tout a carbon filter to pad their list of features, Blueair wants theirs to really function as claimed.

There is no ozone emission produced by Blueair purifiers. The anticipated filter life is about6 months, so expect to be changing the HEPA air filter around twice per year. This model has three speeds which is fairly standard with air purifiers today.
